Historic Sites:
Financial Assistance
There are several available
opportunities for financing historic preservation projects. Sources
range from tax breaks and loans, to small and large grants. At this
time the Department of Archaeology & Historic Preservation does not offer
any specific grants to private property owners. However, the office
does administer the Federal Rehabilitation Investment Tax Credit which
can help offset the costs of historic 
rehabilitation to private, income
producing properties. There are a number of private foundations which
offer grants to historic preservation projects. See your local
library for additional information about private foundations.
