ANNOUNCING A SHORT COURSE ON LOCAL PLANNING - 2011 REVITALIZE WA CONFERENCE

Custom Short Course on Local Planning Focusing on Historic Preservation and Downtown Revitalization In coordination with the Department of Commerce and the Planning Association of Washington, the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation is hosting a Custom Short Course on Local Planning Focusing on Historic Preservation and Downtown Revitalization. as part of their 2011 conference, “RevitalizeWA – A Main Street and Preservation Conference”. One of only twenty being offered this year, this Short Course is has been scheduled as two back-to-back conference sessions on Thursday, May 12, 2011 from 1:30 – 5:00 PM at the Whitman Hotel and Conference Center at Six West Rose Street in Walla Walla, WA. The Short Course is a great training opportunity for Mayors, Council Members, Planning Commission Members, Historic Preservation Board Members, Downtown Association Members, City Clerks and Staff, Administrators, Attorneys, Planning Consultants and Citizens to learn more about planning and community development, how goals and strategies can be integrated,  roles in the planning process, and how to be effectively involved. Three segments will be presented by volunteer professionals with expertise on the legal basis of planning in Washington, principles and programs for preservation planning, and integrating preservation and downtown revitalization with comprehensive planning and implementation. All are welcome to attend this Short Course at no charge, but non-conference attendees are asked to please send an RSVP to Sarah Hansen: shansen@preservewa.org or Anne Holland: aholland@preservewa.org and check in at the Conference Registration Desk to pick up a pass.
