Aspiring Authors Take Note: WA APA Issues RFQ to Write Novel on Planning in WA

Taking a novel approach to engaging new audiences in the planning profession, the Youth in Planning Taskforce of the Washington Chapter of the American Planning Association (WA APA) is pleased to release a request for qualifications (RFQ) for assistance with writing and project management of Chapter one of Washington, My Home - a graphic novel about planning in Washington state.

Inspired by Chicago Architecture Center's graphic novel No Small Plans, (available at this link:   http://www.architecture.org/learn/resources/no-small-plans/) the aim of the project is to create an engaging tool to raise youth awareness of their civic responsibility and potential to influence decisions that make their own communities better places to live for all.

The tool - a graphic novel - would use stories that reflect planning issues relevant to different areas in our state and feature youth as change agents in their communities exploring the breadth of community values that come into play when deciding how land gets used.
