We are thankful to Doug Wilson and Theresa Langford of the National Park Service who edited the volume with great care, and to the other co-authors Robert Cromwell, Tracy Fortmann, Heidi Pierson and Greg Shine.” Tracy Fortmann, Fort Vancouver National Historic Site Superintendent, said, “’Exploring Fort Vancouver’ is a real departure from the traditional history book. Tremendous effort and detail was paid to telling the history of this area through artifacts. As the stewards of an internationally recognized museum collection that nears two million objects, it was clear that tangible pieces from the past would play a primary role in this book. Through the lens of the museum collection, a highly visible and compelling book was produced.” Superintendent Fortmann further stated, “We are grateful to the Clark County HPG funding for ensuring that public and school libraries receive donated copies of the book. Getting this book into the hands of teachers means everything to us.”
