BILL INTRODUCED TO ESTABLISH NEW STATE HERITAGE DEPARTMENT

Today, State Senators Haugen and Swecker introduced Senate Bill 5768 that would establish a new Department of Heritage, Arts, and Culture. The proposed department would bring together under one umbrella agency several existing but separate state agencies, commissions, and organizations that have preservation of heritage and the arts as a mission. As written, Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation, the State Historical Societies, Arts Commission would be merged into the one agency. View the bill’s language here: SB 5768.
