CELEBRATE VANCOUVER’S MILITARY HISTORY

This Saturday (9/17) beginning at 10:00, step back in time and honor our veterans at the grant opening of the new Veteran’s Museum at the Vancouver Veterans Medical Center. In addition to the grand opening ceremony, the event will feature the World War II era Fox Company, 104th DIV re-enactors at a re-created field Battalion Aid Station. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has rehabilitated the Medical Center’s historic telephone exchange building (Building 1819) to serve as the museum facility. Rehabilitation of the building and creation of this interpretive center results, in part, as mitigation for demolition of other historic buildings from the World War II era to make way for new facilities at the Vancouver VA campus.  For more information about the museum and grand opening events, contact anne.murphy@va.gov or call 360-737-1441.
