City of Tacoma Seeks Historic Preservation Intern

The City of Tacoma’s Planning and Development Services Department is seeking to hire a part-time intern to provide support to the City of Tacoma’s Historic Preservation Program and Prairie Line Trail Interpretive Plan. Under staff supervision, the position will be responsible for assisting with the Historic Preservation Month events and supporting the Prairie Line Trail Interpretive team. The position will directly support the City's mission to provide high-quality, innovative and cost-effective municipal services that enhance the lives of our citizens, the quality of our neighborhoods, and the access and awareness of historic resources. The goal of the Planning and Development Services Department is to guide community growth and development in a manner that protects environmental resources, enhances quality of life, promotes distinctive neighborhoods and a vibrant downtown, and involves citizens in the decisions that affect them. The internship will offer a unique and highly desirable opportunity to engage in community outreach and events programming, as well as assist in creating an interpretive plan that highlights the cultural significance of the Prairie Line Trail as a historic resource and a public space. The interpretation plan will involve working with historic research, community stakeholders, and public art. The position may also involve supporting other aspects of the Historic Preservation Program.
