CLATSOP COMMUNITY COLLEGE HOLDS SUMMER PRESERVATION WORKSHOP

Clatsop Community College recently announced the schedule for its summer workshop.  The course entitled “Introduction to the Theory and Practice of Historic Preservation,” is a hands-on course that will be taught in scenic Astoria Oregon June 25th through the 28th. This four day workshop will introduce participants to the history and theory of historic preservation, the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, and methods of analyzing and documenting historic structures.  The course will include a walking tour through the historic neighborhoods of Astoria, Oregon.  Several days will be devoted to hands-on workshops in which participants will learn methods and materials used to restore historic wood windows and doors and repair plaster walls and ceilings.
