Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) hiring two full time archaeologists

The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR) Cultural Resources Protection Program (CRPP) is hiring two full time archaeologists.  This is an opportunity to work for one of the twelve original THPO tribes.  The CRPP is one of the largest contracting cultural resource management organizations in the inland northwest, working primarily within the tribes’ 6.4-million acre ceded land.

Ensuring that the tribes’ concerns about cultural resources and ancestral remains are addressed is our top priority.  Our archaeologists work closely with the oral history aspect of the program to incorporate traditional knowledge into our understanding of archaeological sites.  Our office currently consists of twelve full time employees: six CTUIR tribal members, one member of another tribe, and five non-tribal members.

The CTUIR, the largest employer in Umatilla County, provides a generous benefits package including health, vision, and dental insurance as well as a 401(k) program, and all federal and tribal holidays.  Pendleton, population 17,000 and very proud of its history (especially the Woolen Mills and Pendleton Round-Up), is within six miles of the tribal governance center.  The CTUIR also runs a free bus system to nearby communities including Walla Walla, the Tri-Cities, and La Grande.  Learn more about the CTUIR at http://ctuir.org/
