The Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) is pleased to announce that Stephanie Jolivette of Seattle joined our staff as of September 17th.  Stephanie has stepped into the position of Assistant State Archaeologist for Local Government previously held by Gretchen Kaehler who departed for cultural resource work at Snohomish County in August.

Stephanie most recently worked for a private cultural resource managment consulting firm inLacey and prior to that working in cultural resource management for museums, universities, public agencies, and private consulting firms across the Pacific Northwest including Alaska, Oregon and Washington. She received her Masters degree in Archaeology at the University of Washington and her BA from University of Wisconsin at Madison. We learned on Monday that both Stephanie and our new Preservation Design Reviewer for the built environment, Holly Borth, are Michigan-ders with Stephanie coming from Holland, and Holly being raised in suburban Grand Rapids.

In her work at DAHP, Stephanie will be busy reviewing and commenting on locally authorized/permitted projects in Western Washington counties being circulated to the agency under the SEPA regulations and guidelines.  Stephanie is also interested in sharing her expertise in archaeology and passion for protecting cultural resources with stakeholders, students, and new audiences.
