DR. ROBERT DUNNELL, ARCHAEOLOGIST, PASSES

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Dr. Robert C. Dunnell, Archaeologist, Professor Emeritus and past Chair of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Washington. Dr. Dunnell was nationally and internationally recognized as a leader in the area of archaeological theory and the application of evolutionary theory in contemporary archaeology.  While his major archaeological field efforts were in the Eastern and Southeastern United States his influence in Washington is widely represented in his many students that work in the field in the Pacific Northwest and across the nation. His clarity of thinking, intellectual rigor and mentoring profoundly influenced a generation of students for the better.  He will be greatly missed.  For more on Dr. Dunnell, please see this website.
