Join the Masonry Institute of Washington for a day of hands-on education in the design and construction of masonry cavity walls. Get instruction from leading masonry experts and get your hands dirty building and installing all components of a masonry wall system. REGISTRATION: Please register via one of the following methods: - Call (425) 828-0433 - Email info@masonryinstitute.com - Web: Click here for online registration SYMPOSIUM INFORMATION: Registration: 7:30am-8:00am 8:00am-10:30am: Structural CMU Wall Design and Construction Learn the basics of designing and constructing a structural CMU wall that will serve as the backup for a masonry veneer. This section includes information on code requirements, structural issues and other design considerations, as well as hands-on participation in CMU wall construction. 10:45am-12:45pm: Cavity Wall Components Common cavity wall components will be covered including flashing, moisture barriers, and masonry ties. Participants will also install components on a CMU backup wall as part of a cavity wall system. Lunch and Tradeshow: 12:45pm-1:30pm 1:30pm-4:00pm: Masonry Veneer Design and Construction Learn to design and construct a masonry veneer system over a CMU backup wall. This section will cover the basics of veneer design, as well as interfaces with various cavity components. Participants will finish by helping to construct a brick veneer wall system.
