King County Hiring Historic Preservation Planner

The King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks (DNRP) is looking for a dynamic and innovative preservation professional to serve as King County's Preservation Planner. Established in 1978, King County's Historic Preservation Program's (HPP) mission is to preserve and protect the county's significant historic and archaeological resources and enhance public access and appreciation of them. HPP is a regional preservation program, providing preservation and landmarking services to unincorporated areas as well as 20 of the county's suburban cities through interlocal agreements. The Preservation Planner plays a vital role in furthering the following program objectives identified in HPP's 2013 strategic plan: building capacity for preservation among county and regional partners; increasing community engagement and preservation literacy; strengthening connections between preservation and other complementary goals, such as environmental sustainability and economic development; and strengthening and improving access to internal program resources and tools. The Preservation Planner report to King County's Historic Preservation Officer (HPO) and works in close collaboration with the HPO and program staff. King County Preservation Planner
