Latino Heritage Survey Public Information Meeting Scheduled

This Thursday evening, May 23rd, is the date set for the second and final public meeting about the results of the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation's (DAHP) Latino Heritage Survey Project, Phase II.  The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 to 7:00 pm at the Casa Latina at 317 17th Avenue South in Seattle

To conduct this project, DAHP received generous support for both phases of this effort to identify and document historic places in Washington State associated with Latina/o heritage by the National Park Service through its Under-Represented Communities grant program. Consulting services to perform the survey work was provided by the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation with collaboraion from Dr. Erasmo Gamboa of the University of WA, and Sea Mar Community Health Centers.

The project resulted in several oral histories as well as documentation of 20 historic properties and the preparation of two nomination forms to the National Register of Historic Places. More detail about the results of the survey effort will be shared at the meeting.

For questions or more information about the meeting, contact Julianne Patterson at jpatterson@preservewa.org, Susan Johnson at Susan@artifacts-inc.com, or Greg Griffith at greg.griffith@dahp.wa.gov.
