Mark Your Calendars: Lecture on the Point Defiance Pagoda Reconstruction – May 2

Melissa McGinnis, Historic and Cultural Resource Manager for Metro Parks Tacoma, will give a presentation and brief tour of the recently renovated Point Defiance Park Pagoda, which was seriously damaged by an arsonist in April 2011. The station reopened to the public this January after an extensive rehabilitation, which recently won a State Historic Preservation Achievement Award. The building is currently under review for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. Ms. McGinnis will discuss the history of the building, show photographs, and talk about the unique challenges encountered during this remarkable project.
