Planning Association of WA seeks Conference Session Proposals by 1/31/2017

The Planning Association of Washington (PAW) invites you to submit a session proposal(s) for its 2017 conference to be held May 3-5, 2017 at the Campbell’s Resort in Lake Chelan. We look forward to featuring a slate of diverse and dynamic presentations and excellent networking opportunities as inspiration for this years conference theme. PAW (http://PlanningPaw.org/) is seeking session proposals that relate to the conference theme and address the following areas of interest:
- How to respond to a fast changing environment. What does changing technology and demographics mean for planning, customer service, and citizen engagement?
- Innovative urban design and new technologies for planners. Demonstrations with Google Earth, GIS SketchUp and similar tools.
- Social media and the challenge of reaching your audience.
- Historic Preservation: Preserving history in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ways to respond to homelessness and housing affordability in today’s evolving urban environment.
- Water resources now and on the horizon.
- Looking ahead, what is going to emerge as the next significant issues for planners.
- What will the planning office in the future look like? How will we respond to change.
- Include a paragraph describing the topic and the proposed means of delivering the information.
- Proposals should contain a clear but concise explanation of what participants will learn from the session and how the presentation relates to the conference theme and/or one of the tentative tracks. This description must be no more than 200 words in length.
- Provide contact information (names, titles, email addresses, mailing addresses, and phone numbers for the speakers/moderator along with short speaker bios, limited to 100 words each.
- Sessions should be approximately 90 minutes in length.
