The Olmsted Legacy Forum

Saturday February 27 is the date set for Olmsted in Olympia: The Olmsted Legacy at the Washington State Capitol. This forum is the result of a collaboration amonst the League of Women Voters of Washington, League of Women Votes of Thurston County, Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Association for Olmsted Parks, the Washington State Department of General Administration, and the Friends of Seattle's Olmsted Parks to produce a new brochure entitled Guide to the Olmsted Legacy at the Washington State Capitol. The brochure will be distributed at the event on the 27th. Featured on the program will be four presentations by Norman Johnston, Ph.D. and noted author of Washington's Audacious State Capitol and Its Builders; Michael Sullivan, historic preservation consultant; Susan Olmsted, landscape architect; and Eliza Davidson, architect and urban forester. All four presentations will touch upon the recently completed West Capitol Campus Historic Landscape Preservation Master Plan and companion document Vegetation Management Plan. Following the presentations will be walking tour of the Capitol Campus led by Susan Olmsted and Eliza Davidson. The forum begins at 9:45 and lasts until 1:30 pm.
