Tour an Historic Portland Apartment Building Sept. 29th

Tour one of Portland’s most elegant historic apartment buildings on Sunday, September 29. Timed entries between 1:00 pm and 4:20 pm will provide tourgoers with an in-depth view of a unique, 100-year old landmark -- the 705 NW Davis Apartments (current address: 2141 NW Davis). Designed by the noted architectural firm of Whitehouse and Fouilhoux, the 705 (the historic street number) was completed in 1913 by the Wauna Land Company as a stylish apartment address. Early residents included artist Julia Hoffman, a founder of what is now the Oregon College of Art and Craft, and an investor in the building. Visitors will learn about the landmark's history, architect, and architecture through touring seven apartments of various sizes and configurations, including the penthouse and a two-story unit. Centennial celebration tours will conclude with an exhibit of historic photographs, a look into a former servant's room, the opportunity to meet contemporary craftspeople who work on this significant building, and light refreshments. Admission is $25.00. Advance purchase required at http://www.visitahc.org/content/special-events or by calling 503-231-7264. A benefit for the Architectural Heritage Center presented by the residents of 705 NW Davis Condominiums, and sponsored by Neil Kelly Co.
