The Oregon Department of Transportation's State Radio Project will host a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) learning session on historic preservation and compliance for communication sites. This session will focus on project compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, with special attention placed on the needs and interests of  Tribal communities.  Attendees will learn about the application of FCC nationwide programmatic agreements during design and construction of tower sites and collocations.  Tribal notification through the FCC's Tower Construction Notification System will also be covered. An agenda is attached. This is a rare opportunity to hear from the FCC's Federal Preservation Officer and for federal and state agencies to learn from area Tribes.  Tribal participation and input is important for this event to be a success, and we encourage your attendance so that Tribal perspectives and concerns can be sufficiently addressed. The training is free and open to Tribal representatives or entities that work with, or have an interest in the FCC compliance process.  Lunch and refreshments will be provided.  This learning session will be of value to: communication tower licensees, applicants and permittees (tribal); tribal environmental and cultural resource specialists; tribal legal staff and historic preservation officers (THPO); other tribal members with interest.
