WISAARD 3.0 - Coming June 28

The time is coming for you to get to know Wisaard 3.0! So many great changes (Change is Good!) are coming and we're excited to show it to you! Over the past few years we have been listening to user suggestions and have implemented many improvements in this new release (It's going to be great!). The main goal of this project was to make Wisaard more user friendly. So some things you can expect to see are:

  • New portal and web address (You will still need a SAW account, but will not have to log in through SAW every time). The new portal means NO MORE TIME OUTS
  • Totally new navigation and interface design
  • New Home page and Project Dashboard page
  • No more separate "Activities"
  • New Map format
  • Continuity between resource forms
  • Shapefile upload and linear mapping for historic properties (NO MORE DOTS FOR RAILROADS!)
  • New EZ2 format (even easier!)

It is important to note that there will not be any changes in process with regard to what gets submitted in Wisaard and what gets sent via email. See this link for a refresher about process: PROJECT REVIEW PROCESS

Unfortunately, due to the rollout schedule, we will probably not be able to produce tutorials until after the launch. All of the tutorials currently available will be obsolete. But we hope the new format will be a lot easier to navigate, so all our worrying about making it smooth for our users may be for nothing!

Whenever there is a launch of a new web application, the one thing you can count on is that there will be bugs to work out. The first thing we will have to do after launch is work on reporting bugs to the developer so they can be fixed. We will do our absolute best to keep the bugs to a minimum to begin with. Once that settles down a bit (a week or two) we will do webinars and trainings. Please let me know (kim.gant@dahp.wa.gov) if you would like to host a training in your area and if you have space to hold it. We will work on tutorials as soon as possible.

More information to come soon. Remember that if you have any trouble or want to report a bug, send an email to support@dahp.wa.gov.

For those of you that have made it through this entire post, here is a haiku. :)
