HISTORIC PRESERVATION PLAN PUBLIC MEETING SET FOR 5/17 IN ELLENSBURG
Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) staff wil be on hand this Thursday (5/17) to host a public meeting about the Washington State Historic Preservation Plan update. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 5:30 pm in the historic Elks Lodge at 119 West 5th Avenue in the downtown Ellensburg Historic District. The meeting is being held to help DAHP define strategies and tasks for the state to achieve to better protect archaeological sites, landscapes, plus historic buidlings and districts. The agenda will include a powerpoint presentation about Washington's current state preservation plan: https://dahp.wa.gov/sites/default/files/Executive%20Summary%20Web1.pdf and the planning process currently underway. Also, we will be breaking into small groups to discuss a range of questions. Input from the meeting will be recorded to help the State Historic Preservation Officer, the plan's Steering Committee and DAHP staff to draft the plan.
Light refreshments will be available at the meeting to tide you over until dinner.
If you can't make the meeting on May 17, be sure to complete DAHP's on-line questionnaire about the plan. Go to: www.dahp.wa.gov/preservationplan. Contact Greg Griffith at greg.griffith@dahp.wa.gov or 360-586-3073 for more information.
