Archaeology Site Form Protection Bill Goes to Governor's Desk

Substitute House Bill 2724 passed the Legislature on Friday and is headed to the Governor’s desk.  The bill protects archaeological site forms and reports, traditional cultural property information, data fields and GIS spatial layers from public disclosure.   Local governments, Tribes, and state agencies can share cultural resource information and it will stay protected from disclosure no matter which agency has a copy.   The bill allows private property owners to receive archaeological locational information about their property directly from the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation.
