The National Park Service's Cultural Resources Diversity Internship Program Invites You to Submit Project Proposals for its Summer 2014 program!

The Cultural Resources Diversity Internship Program (CRDIP), part of the Washington Office’s Division of Cultural Resources, Partnerships, and Science invites project proposals for 2014, which marks the 16th year of the program.  Over the years, National Park units, NPS program offices, and our partners in the public and private sectors have co-sponsored dozens of diverse undergraduate and graduate students ages 18-25 and provided them with outstanding career-exploration opportunities.  During the 2014 session, the program will cosponsor 12-13 interns during the 10-week summer program. The deadline for project proposal application is Friday, December 20, 2013. The cost of selected projects will be shared on a 50/50 basis between NPS and the intern sponsor.  The program is administered in partnership with the Student Conservation Association (SCA). Selection of intern hosts will be based on the following evaluation criteria:
  • Appropriateness of project for undergraduate and graduate students in history, anthropology, historic preservation, architecture, museum studies, or related fields, who may have no previous experience in historic preservation/cultural resources work.
  • Quality of supervision and mentoring.
  • Commitment to providing intern with an introduction to a range of historic preservation/cultural resources careers beyond the immediate work environment.
  • Commitment to recruit minority and underrepresented youth.
  • Availability of housing, especially in remote areas.
Please contact Paloma Bolasny, CRDIP Coordinator, at Paloma_bolasny@nps.gov or 202-354-2174 for more information or to request and application.  Read more about the 2013 projects and interns here.
