Join us in learning how to support visitors in Ebey's Reserve Thursday, March 18 from 3-5 pm at the Coupeville Rec Hall Free - refreshments provided.
The Central Whidbey Chamber of Commerce and the Trust Board of Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve are partnering for a unique opportunity to learn about Ebey’s Reserve, and how to connect both residents and visitors with this special place. On Thursday, March 18 from 3-5 pm at the Coupeville Rec Hall, participants will explore the national significance of the Reserve, ways to experience this place, and available resources. An overview of this opportunity includes: Ebey's Reserve 101 - Emi Morgan Reserve story & significance - Mark Preiss Interpretation & connecting people with place - Adam Lorio Tourism trends & creating itineraries - Marilyn Sherman Clay Information & resources - Lynda Eccles This free training is an ideal for volunteers or docents, business owners, new residents, elected officials, nonprofit employees or board members, or anyone seeking more information about the Reserve. "Supporting visitors is an integral part of sustaining this community’s economy," said Central Whidbey Chamber Director, Lynda Eccles, "If we, as residents are excited about this place, the more we can inform visitors who will stay longer, spend more money, and return with their friends and family." Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve was established in 1978 in Central Whidbey Island to preserve and protect a rural community, which provides a continuous historic record from 19th century settlement in Puget Sound to the present time. Within its 17,572 acres are more than 350 historic structures, 17 working farms, and visible native and pioneer land use traditions. By design, 85% of Ebey’s Reserve is privately owned and is managed by a local Trust Board representing the Town of Coupeville, Island County, Washington State Parks, and the National Park Service.
