UPCOMING TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES
Nov 04, 2009
Sharpening our skills or finding continuing education training (whether for ourselves or others) should be a high priority. To make this chore easier, DAHP's Training Coordinator has compiled a list of activities in the Western United States or those that have special significance. Please take the time to review the list and follow the links. There are many other training opportunities on the East Coast and if you need more information you can either follow the links or contact me specifically about your needs. The list is not comprehensive and you should check DAHP’s website for updates. For more information contact Russell Holter 360-586-3533. Is your Board boring? The National Trust offers a three-day working seminar tailored to community needs for Preservation Advocacy Groups and non-profit preservation organizations. For more information on how you can schedule a three-day retreat for your board contact the Center for Preservation Leadership at the National Trust: 202-588-6067. --2009-- November 17-18Preservation Planning for Campuses, Complexes, and InstallationsNational Preservation InstitutePhoenix, AZwww.npi.org November 18DAHP Expectation for CR ConsultantsArchaeology and Historic PreservationOlympia, WAwww.dahp.wa.gov November 19-21Introduction to Blacksmithing Traditional Building Skills InstituteEphraim, UTwww.snow.edu/tbsi December 3-5Introduction to Blacksmithing Traditional Building Skills InstituteLogan, UTwww.snow.edu/tbsi December 8-9Native American Cultural Property LawNational Preservation InstitutePhoenix, AZwww.npi.org --2010-- January 14-16Wood Windows and Millwork Traditional Building Skills InstituteEphraim, UTwww.snow.edu/tbsi February 4-6Blacksmithing II Traditional Building Skills InstituteEphraim, UTwww.snow.edu/tbsi February 24-26Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Tools for Cultural and Natural Resource ProjectsNational Preservation InstituteSan Francisco, CAwww.npi.org March 9-10Preservation Planning for Campuses, Complexes, and InstallationsNational Preservation InstituteAnchorage, AKwww.npi.org March 10Advanced Section 106The Advisory Council for Historic PreservationTucson, AZhttp://www.achp.gov/106advanced.html March 11-13Masonry PreservationTraditional Building Skills InstituteEphraim, UTwww.snow.edu/tbsi March 15-16Conservation Strategies for ArchaeologistsNational Preservation InstituteTucson, AZwww.npi.org March 17-19Archaeological Curation and Collections ManagementNational Preservation InstituteTucson, AZwww.npi.org March 22-24Cultural and Natural Resource Integrated Management StrategyNational Preservation InstituteHonolulu, HIwww.npi.org March 25CERCLA and NHPA Coordination for Superfund SitesNational Preservation InstituteHonolulu, HIwww.npi.org March 29- April 2Woodworking for WomenPort Townsend School of WoodworkingFort Worden, WAwww.ptwoodschool.com April 8-10Stone and Ornamental Stone MasonryTraditional Building Skills InstituteEphraim, UTwww.snow.edu/tbsi April 26-27NEPA ComplianceNational Preservation InstituteSeattle, WAwww.npi.org April 28-29Consultation and Protection of Sacred LandsNational Preservation InstituteSeattle, WAwww.npi.org April 28-29Landscape PreservationNational Preservation InstituteSalt Lake City, UTwww.npi.org May 3-5Section 106: Agreement DocumentsNational Preservation InstituteSacramento, CAwww.npi.org May 4-5Identification and Evaluation of Mid-20th Century BuildingsNational Preservation InstituteLos Angeles, CAwww.npi.org May 4-5 or May 6-7GIS Practical Applications for Cultural Resource ProjectsNational Preservation InstituteSan Francisco, CAwww.npi.org May 6-7Identification and Management of Traditional Cultural PlacesNational Preservation InstituteSacramento, CAwww.npi.org May 18-21Cultural Resources TrainingWSDOT/DAHPEllensburg, WARussell.holter@dahp.wa.gov May 18-19The Essentials of Section 106The Advisory Council for Historic PreservationSalt Lake City, UThttp://www.achp.gov/106essentials.html May 19-22Vernacular Architecture Forum Annual ConferenceVernacular Architecture ForumWashington, DChttp://www.vafweb.org/ May 19-20Landscape PreservationNational Preservation InstituteTopeka, KSwww.npi.org June 15-16The Essentials of Section 106The Advisory Council for Historic PreservationRiverside, CAhttp://www.achp.gov/106essentials.html June 18Advanced Section 106The Advisory Council for Historic PreservationSan Diego, CAhttp://www.achp.gov/106advanced.html June 19- 20Woodworking for WomenPort Townsend School of WoodworkingFort Worden, WAwww.ptwoodschool.com July 7-8The Essentials of Section 106The Advisory Council for Historic PreservationKansas City, MOhttp://www.achp.gov/106essentials.html July 15Advanced Section 106The Advisory Council for Historic PreservationSeattle, WAhttp://www.achp.gov/106advanced.html July 24-25CooperingPort Townsend School of WoodworkingFort Worden, WAwww.ptwoodschool.com August 15-20Pacific Northwest Preservation Field SchoolUniversity of OregonChallis, IDhttp://hp.uoregon.edu/index.cfm?mode=fieldschools&page=pnw August 22-27Pacific Northwest Preservation Field SchoolUniversity of OregonChallis, IDhttp://hp.uoregon.edu/index.cfm?mode=fieldschools&page=pnw September 12-17Pacific Northwest Preservation Field SchoolUniversity of OregonChallis, IDhttp://hp.uoregon.edu/index.cfm?mode=fieldschools&page=pnw September 19-24Pacific Northwest Preservation Field SchoolUniversity of OregonChallis, IDhttp://hp.uoregon.edu/index.cfm?mode=fieldschools&page=pnw October 25-28National Trust for Historic Preservation Annual ConferenceNational Trust for Historic PreservationAustin, TXwww.achp.gov
