DEADLINE NEARS FOR SHPO AWARD NOMINATIONS
Since 1990, the Washington State Historic Preservation Officer (WA SHPO) has recognized persons, organizations, and projects that have made outstanding contributions to the preservation of cultural and historic places in Washington State.
Nominations for the 2020 SHPO's Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Historic Preservation are due to be emailed or postmarked to the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation by this Friday, March 6th. Emailed nominations are to be emailed to Beverly Ubias at Beverly.ubias@dahp.wa.gov by 5:00 pm on the 6th.

Nominations can be made in one of 9 award categories listed on the webpage.
New this year: Nominations are sought for outstanding rehabilitation of historic properties for low and moderate income housing. WA SHPO Allyson Brooks explains: "With this year's awards we want to showcase that by preserving and rehabbing historic buildings, communities can achieve success in providing families with attractive and affordable housing."
Award recipients will be recognized by at a ceremony on Tuesday afternoon, May 12 at the Legislative (capitol) Building in Olympia.
