Tierra’s Seattle, Washington office is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our growing team as a Cultural Resource Principal Investigator. Tierra is a woman and minority owned business that has been conducting cultural resources projects in the western U.S. since 1993, and in Washington since 2010. 

Job responsibilities include:

Design and oversight of research aspects of cultural resource projects throughout Washington and the greater northwest.
Marketing to existing and new clients
Responding to RFPs and RFQs including preparation of scopes of work, cost proposals, and research designs
Implementing all aspects of fieldwork and overseeing the work of employees assigned to projects
Producing/high-level reviewing of technical reports

Providing effective coordination with clients, agencies, DAHP, and Tribes
Training personnel in field methods, analytical techniques, database management, report writing, research techniques, and archaeological theory and methods
Attending conferences and professional meetings; and working with other Tierra personnel to present papers at these conferences.

Minimum Qualifications

A graduate degree, preferably a PhD., in Anthropology, Archaeology, Heritage Management, or related field.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the cultural resources industry, at least 5 years of which has been in the northwest.
Demonstrable research experience (thesis, dissertation, or peer-reviewed journal article) in Washington State or the greater northwest.
A thorough understanding of the NRHP Criteria and their applications.
Knowledge of Section 106, Section 110, Executive Order 05-05, SEPA, and similar laws and regulations.
Experience working with municipal, county, state, and federal agencies and Tribes in Washington.

The PI works closely with the other PIs and PMs, Field Directors, GIS specialists, and the Division Director; therefore, the successful candidate must work well in a team environment. The successful candidate must also have the ability to multi-task, including managing multiple survey, testing, and monitoring projects simultaneously.

This is a full-time position with benefits, including medical, 401k, holidays, and continuing education opportunities. Salary is competitive, and is based on education and experience. The successful candidate will be based in our western Washington offices, although occasional travel is required. Partial telecommuting options are also available.
