Due to an overwhelming response for Consultant’s Training, the Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation is adding a second training on Tuesday January 29th from 9am to 3:30 at the DAHP Training Center.  Please contact Russell Holter to sign-up for this class.

Partnership of federal agencies and national organizations offers workshop funding, technical assistance, and additional resources  The Citizens' Institute on Rural Design (CIRD) is issuing a request for proposals to rural communities facing design challenges to host local workshops in 2013. Buildings renewed and reused keep Seattle's unique character

On Saturday, January 19, 2013, the National Park Service at Fort Vancouver National Historic Site will launch two new exhibits on the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the Works Progress Administration (WPA) at the Fort Vancouver Visitor Center. The two complementary exhibits, on display until late March, explore how the WPA and CCC put the people of Washington State and Vancouver back to work during the Great Depression of the 1930s. The Metropolitan Park District of Tacoma celebrates the re-opening of the historic Pagoda at Point Defiance Park this Saturday, January 12 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. Built in 1914 as a station for the city’s street car line, the building suffered significant damage from an arson fire in 2011. Without question, the Park District immediately began planning to rehabilitate the building to continue as a local landmark for another 100 years.
