The Olympia Historical Society & Bigelow House Museum is sponsoring the Olympia Holiday Tour of Historic Homes on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from noon to 4:00 p.m.  Eight historic properties will be open including the Bigelow House at 918 Glass Avenue NE, where tickets will be available the day of the tour.  Tickets also available at the Coach House, 211 21st Avenue SW day of the tour and for advance ticket purchase, see www.olympiahistory.org...

This is to notify you that Wisaard will be unavailable on Thursday June 29. We understand that this is short notice, but it is unavoidable and we ask for your understanding. Wisaard will be unavailable so that we can install the new E-APE feature. It should be back up and running on Friday June 30. However, please note that in the event of a state government shut-down, Wisaard will again be unavailable. If a state budget is not reached by 5:00 pm on June 30, Wisaard will be shut down.
The Washington State DAHP is requesting proposals for the inventory, documentation, evaluation and nomination of historic places in the Puget Sound region associated with Latino heritage. DAHP's Assistant State Anthropologist Juliette Vogel was injured in a serious vehicle accident in SeaTac early Sunday morning as she was returning home after a week's vacation with family. As of this writing, Juliette is currently in recovery at Harborview Hospital but expected to be released in the next day or two and return to her home in Olympia and under the care of family members. The 2017 Training Calendar has been updated and there are some really interesting opportunities coming available both near and far.  The University of Florida is holding a field school in Nantucket, Massachusetts.  Yes please!  The theme of the Field School is Photogrammetry 3D Laser Scanning and Imaging of Historic Properties.  The Field School can be taken as a 3-week, 3-credit course or separate one week, non-credit workshops.... more
